A Series Speakers

Throughout the years Polk Audio has produce some excellent sounding speakers. Like a lot of speaker manufacturing companies, Polk Audio delivers a few lines of speakers. The Polk Audio Speakers RTi a series represent a line of speakers very well received. Sound and Vision Magazine had all good things to say about the Polk Audio RTi A3 used in their review of a Polk Audio home theater set-up.

In addition to the RTi A3, the Polk Audio RTI A1 is the other choice in a bookshelf model. The RTi A series has three floor standing speakers. First, the flagship system of the group is the Polk Audio RTI A9 . The RTi A9 feature three 7” bass driver and two 5-1/4” midrange drivers. Second, the Polk Audio RTI A7 also has an impressive line up with its two 7” bass drivers and 6.5” midrange driver. The little brother of the Polk Audio Rti series is the A5. The Polk Audio RTI A5 speaker features two 6.5” midrange drivers.

Important in any high performance speaker is its cabinet construction. The Polk Audio Speakers RTi deliver with its six-layer laminate, topped-off with a layer of real wood finish. The curve styling of the enclosure adds stability making for a stronger cabinet, which means a better sounding enclosure.

With the Polk Audio Speakers RTi A series you don’t have to worry about cheap terminals for hooking up your cables. Premium quality binding post that are gold plated are used, and the towers and bookshelf speakers features bi-wire and bi-amplification capability.

In The Category of Sleek Speakers

The RS 334 floorstanding loudspeakers are designed to be the front mains in a home theater or by themselves in a full-range two speaker stereo system. With its (25mm) EWB tweeter and 4″ (102mm) FCCM woofers the speaker is engineered to have both power and subtlety to bring any form of home entertainment to life.

Audioholics’ review of the Boston Acoustics RS 334
:

The Reflection Series speakers (indicated with the RS nomenclature in the model number) is a fairly new offering from the venerable manufacturer. Boston was looking to create “Good, Better, Best” lines of speakers.

The Boston RS 334 speakers came individually boxed and well protected. Each box clearly outlined what was in it so if you are having these speakers shipped, you might want to make sure you are home to sign for them.

These speakers were mated with a lot of different gear. First and foremost most of the critical listening tests were done with the Denon DVD-3910 driving the analogue only Emotiva RSP-1/RPA-1 combo.

For measurements, I used TrueRTA with a Behringer ECM8000 mic and an M-Audio Fast Track Pro external soundcard. For amplification I used a Sherbourn 2/75B amp.

Most Expensive Speakers?

If you just won the lottery, and are looking to upgrade your audio system, Sound & Vision reports on speakers which may meet your new expanded budget:

Sweden’s Transmission Audio might have developed the most expensive speaker to date.

For mid-range and high-frequency sound, the Ultimate system includes 2 MF/HF speaker panels that each contain 34 meters of the company’s ribbon drivers, with 652 neodymium magnets. For low-frequency sound, two woofer panels each use 24 8-inch aluminum cone woofers.

But let me run this by you: six MF/HF panels and six woofer panels (and a small nuclear generator to power them all), to make the truly ultimate 6.1 sound system, the $6 million home theater.

What are the Best Home Theater Speakers?

Speakers for Your System - Trust Your Ears

Asking what the best home theater speakers are is somewhat like asking who is the best actor. It depends on the specific role they must fill and personal choice. The performance of one set of surround sound speakers may be best for smaller rooms and inadequate for larger rooms. When choosing speakers, the size of your home theater room is a factor that should be considered. For better or worse, all speakers do not sound alike even if priced identically. There are many, many people who are Bose fans, on the other hand there are more than a few people who consider Bose over-hyped. So, relying on one’s personal taste of what a pair speaker produces in way of audio presentation is going to help the purchaser enjoy his sound surround system for years to come.

Home theater speakers cover the full spectrum of price range. Obviously, if you are on a modest budget something like the $5,000-plus Thiel Audio SCS4 Speakers may not be the best home theater speakers for you. There are plenty of fine speakers for surround sound systems that the average consumer can afford. Sony, JBL, Bose, Polk, Klipsch, and others may provide speaker lines more in line with the average consumers’ budget. There seems to be no end to companies producing home theater speakers, including discount home theater speakers, so a diligent search should find a speaker within one’s budget. An alternate route for obtaining the best bang for the buck is the option of DIY home theater speakers. Building your own set of speakers may not be up everyone’s alley, but many audio enthusiast have obtain quality surround sound systems by using do-it yourself kits or building from scratch.

Home Theater Sound Systems - Wireless Rear Speakers

Going Wireless

Home theater surround sound is very enjoyable to most people. Dealing with the set up of the equipment can be not so enjoyable. Running speaker wire to the rear surround speakers can be an added headache.  The solution for those who do not want wires across their floor for their home theater sound system - wireless rear speakers.

Wireless rear speakers do away with bothersome wires running across the floor of your home theater room. They also let you avoid various methods of trying to hide the wires, such as in-wall wiring or drilling holes in your hardwood floors.

Wireless speakers operate by receiving the audio signal via a receiver which in turn receives a transmitted signal by radio transmission, thereby eliminating speaker wires. The transmitter is connected to the source of the audio output (such as a home theater receiver).

If you already have rear speakers for your home theater sound system, you can add a wireless system which will send a signal to a receiver or receivers that hook up to your rear surround speakers.  Of course, this still requires speaker wires (from receiver to speakers), but you will not have wires running  from the front of the room to the rear. The luxury with this option is that your speaker choice is not limited. If you desire rear speakers that are more suited to your main (front) speakers this option may be best for you.

Another option is to consider home theater systems with wireless speakers that are offered by a few manufactures. Sony and Panasonic offer home theater systems with wireless speakers. Some people may prefer the added convenience of  what is known as a home theater in a box (HTIB). Looking online for these packages should put you in touch with these systems.

There is some concern that wireless technology does not provide the audio quality of a system wired with speaker cable. The trade off may not be as much as a concern for some especially if the system they are considering offers near CD quality.

If you want to enjoy your home theater system and would rather not mess with unsightly speaker wires or the hassles of to trying hide them, home theater wireless speaker systems may be a solution to your dilemma.

Stereo Speakers For Living Rooms Ideas

Loudspeaker Options Exist for the Living Room

Choosing stereo speakers for living rooms entails many factors. Living rooms are the central area in most homes, so many people want loudspeakers that are unobtrusive or add to the décor. Fortunately stereo speakers come in all possible sizes. Many of the most expensive stereo speakers are eloquent and will do justice in many living rooms.

Sometimes the speakers in a home theater system have to meet with the approval a spouse, otherwise known as the spousal approval factor or SAF. Options at time like these might be cube speakers which can be discretely placed. A system featuring the Bose jewle cube speakers will be one alternative for those bulky speakers that are out of the question due to SAF. The Bose Acoustimass systems all feature cube speakers. With diligent searching you may find the lowest price on Bose Acoustmass 10 speakers.

Not all are concerned with speakers that will virtually disappear in their living rooms. Speaker cabinets come in all sorts of configurations. Small bookshelf stereo speakers, floorstanding tower speakers and MTM designs that use speakers stands are among the stereo speakers that can adorn living rooms and blend in with the décor quite nicely. Which loudspeaker one chooses depends on the room size, budget and personal taste.

In-wall or ceiling stereo speakers for living rooms are an alternative to loudspeakers with cabinets. Installation and wiring aside, in-wall and ceiling speaker have an advantage over traditional loudspeakers when it comes to space requirements. Of course, the additional cost factor for installation should be considered. If a good value can be found with discount in wall speakers then the extra expense will be somewhat offset.

Bottom line, living rooms can be every bit as nice as areas with out audio gear or stereo speakers. Adding modern audio cabinets or attractive speaker stands for rear surround speakers may compliment the décor of any living room. Remember that after deciding which loudspeaker configuration is best for you, the most important task is to fine which stereo speakers or home theater speakers are the most pleasing sonically.

Best Price - Home Stereo Speakers

Loudspeakers Can Be The Best Investment In A Home System

Comparing and buying home stereo speakers can make your head swim with the
multitude of loudspeakers available. Selecting home stereo speakers at the best
price could be a trap the buyer might want to avoid. All home stereo speakers
are not created equal.  Given that, what the best stereo speakers are is up to
interpretation. The best price might lead a consumer to the least desirable
speakers. If you know the particular model of stereo speakers you are considering
for your home, then comparative price shopping for that particular pair of home
speakers is wise.

The best price home stereo speakers can seem like an elusive goal at times.
The best bang for a buck  purchase requires a little bit of reviewing and knowledge
of  home stereo speakers.  There are many reviews available for many of the stereo
speakers on the market. Online resources can be found that offer reviews. Audiophile
and stereo magazines are a source of much information concerning home stereo speakers. Individuals interested in home stereo speakers in the high end price range can read a review in a source such as Stereophile.

There may not be a such a thing as a Stereophile recommended loudspeaker, but a review of home speakers by their staff may be very informative. Buying a $1000 audiophile loudspeaker or better is quite an investment, it is best to study your options as best you can. Spending hard earned money, say, on the Opera Consonance Eric 1 loudspeaker or for something in the realm of a Devore loudspeaker knowledge is your best friend.

The average buyer of home stereo speakers won’t be in the market for such high end speakers. Determining the best price for loudspeakers is dependent on what each speaker has to offer. If you do not like the sound presentation of stereo speaker A, then speaker B with a sound more to your taste might be the best option even though the price is marginally higher. If you are able to audition home stereo speakers at the local audio shop, bringing your own quality recording that you are quite familiar with as a reference will determine if the speakers are what you expect in performance.

Whether you are looking for the best small stereo speakers or the best stereo tower speakers it’s a good idea to pay attention to cabinet (enclosure) quality. A heavier, sturdier enclosure will generally offer better sound quality. If rapping your knuckle on the cabinet produces a hollow sound instead of a solid knock, the speaker may have unwanted resonance within the cabinet. It’s safe to say the Dali Helicon MK2 loudspeakers have a better build quality than the mass marketed low priced stereo speakers at the local electronic outlet. But, if you find a speaker that passes the rap test compared to another loudspeaker within the same price range, it might be an indication the speaker will have less problems with internal resonance.

Every astute audio enthusiast wants audio gear at the best price. Home stereo speakers are no exception. Getting the most for your money will lead to many hours of satisfying enjoyment for years to come.

Speaking of Loudspeakers

Thanks to some exceptional men the miracle of loudspeakers and sound reproduction
was born in the latter half of the nineteenth century.  Ernst W. Siemens and pioneer
Alexander Graham Bell are two of the men who contributed to the advancement of audio
technology.  Whether it be home stereo, home theater or any situation where sound
transmission is required, we owe a debt of gratitude to all who have helped developed
audio technology. They are the ultimate when it comes to Do It Yourself (DIY)
loudspeakers and audio.

The best audio systems require loudspeakers that are up to the task. Careful
consideration is needed when acquiring speakers for a sound system. The performance
of a  stereo or home theater system may hinge on the quality of it’s loudspeakers.
Cheap or inexpensive speakers may be perfectly fine in some applications. A system
with quality and high fidelity components will benefit from better loudspeakers as
the whole character of the sound will improve in most cases. Remember, the loudspeaker
has the job of producing sound (from the audio signal) that is very much like the
original sound wave. It’s very easy to see that poor loudspeakers can limit the
quality of any home sound system.

It is generally felt that a loudspeaker will require a break-in phase. The
thought is that after receiving some playing time the loudspeakers will reach it’s
optimum performance. So, if those brand new speakers don’t sound quite like the
demo presentation at the audio shop, you may want to consider breaking-in the
drivers for several hours or days.

You may want to bring a recording you are familiar with when auditioning
loudspeakers at your local dealer. You may be able to discern the potential of
the speakers. Well recorded material may demonstrate their full capabilities.
If you can audition loudspeakers in a similar size room as your intended listening
space, you will get a better sense of how the  speakers will perform in your
environment.

Loudspeakers come in a multitude of configurations. A speaker can have a single
driver, or two, three and beyond. An individual’s budget or needs may dictate
which topology he/she chooses. Bookshelf, floorstanding or tower speakers are
also types of loudspeakers that a buyer will have to consider. Here again, room
size and budget may be a factor in deciding on which style the buyer opts for.

In the end, the speakers that an individual decides upon will be a result of
budget, personal taste, and quality time researching and comparing the loudspeakers
on the market.
