Norman Blake, born 1938, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, started playing professionally at the age of sixteen. Skilled at playing many instruments, he is best known for his work on the acoustic guitar. During his career he has worked with such artist as June Carter Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Alison Kruass.

In the 1970s Norman Blake began a solo career. Now, he is thought to be one of the prominent figure in the Bluegrass revival of the decade. Blake has released or produced over thirty-two albums. He has also appeared on three soundtracks
