Surround Sound - The Making of Home Theater Audio.

Determining the best home theater surround sound system is up to each individual.
A basic system with moderately price components might be just what the doctor
ordered for many people. Others might go the extra mile and get the most elaborate
system they can muster. And for other folks a home theater in a box or package
system will suffice.

The nerve center for the home theater system is the receiver. It receives the
audio and video information from the inputs, processes these signals and sends
them to the TV and loudspeakers. Choices of receivers run the gamut from inexpensive
low end units to high quality hi-fi equipment. Dedicated home theater enthusiast
may opt for separate components instead of a single receiver. This involves a
surround signal processor to receive the incoming  signal and an amplifier or
amplifiers to send the audio to the speakers.

Selecting loudspeakers for your home theater system deserves special attention
since they are a pivotal part of the system. There are innumerable speakers to
choose from with a wide range of pricing. A home theater speaker layout generally
consist of:

Front Right and Left Speakers
Center Channel
Surround Speakers
Subwoofer

An important consideration for good sounding audio for your home theater room is the acoustics of the room. Don’t short change the full potential of your speakers by ignoring how the room may be influencing the sound. The room may be bright or harsh sounding. It maybe lifeless or have a dull characteristic. By adding rugs, heavier curtains, or upholstered furniture you may create a smoother and more pleasing response in the room.

Creating that cinema atmosphere in your home takes a little diligence, but with the proper motivation you can assemble a home theater system that will have you geared up for show time and the popcorn.
