Home Theater Sound Systems - Wireless Rear Speakers
Going Wireless
Home theater surround sound is very enjoyable to most people. Dealing with the set up of the equipment can be not so enjoyable. Running speaker wire to the rear surround speakers can be an added headache. The solution for those who do not want wires across their floor for their home theater sound system - wireless rear speakers.
Wireless rear speakers do away with bothersome wires running across the floor of your home theater room. They also let you avoid various methods of trying to hide the wires, such as in-wall wiring or drilling holes in your hardwood floors.
Wireless speakers operate by receiving the audio signal via a receiver which in turn receives a transmitted signal by radio transmission, thereby eliminating speaker wires. The transmitter is connected to the source of the audio output (such as a home theater receiver).
If you already have rear speakers for your home theater sound system, you can add a wireless system which will send a signal to a receiver or receivers that hook up to your rear surround speakers. Of course, this still requires speaker wires (from receiver to speakers), but you will not have wires running from the front of the room to the rear. The luxury with this option is that your speaker choice is not limited. If you desire rear speakers that are more suited to your main (front) speakers this option may be best for you.
Another option is to consider home theater systems with wireless speakers that are offered by a few manufactures. Sony and Panasonic offer home theater systems with wireless speakers. Some people may prefer the added convenience of what is known as a home theater in a box (HTIB). Looking online for these packages should put you in touch with these systems.
There is some concern that wireless technology does not provide the audio quality of a system wired with speaker cable. The trade off may not be as much as a concern for some especially if the system they are considering offers near CD quality.
If you want to enjoy your home theater system and would rather not mess with unsightly speaker wires or the hassles of to trying hide them, home theater wireless speaker systems may be a solution to your dilemma.
